WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms on the planet and yet it doesn’t include all of the ‘must-have’ features that its competitors offer. Many new features such as video calling and status updates have only been added in the last couple of years. Still, better late than never — this is what WhatsApp feels and which is why the most popular messenger platform is all about to add a new feature that will be of great assistance to those who conduct calls over WhatsApp.
WABetaInfo has stated that WhatsApp is testing the group calling feature on internally. The latest 2.17.70 beta release contains a lot of references to audio conference calling. Users will be able to add other WhatsApp users while being on an audio call with someone. A line of code was discovered which suggested that if a user makes a voice call to someone on WhatsApp, the app will send a request to the server whether the person is busy or not. The latest beta update is full of similar references. Fewer yet similar references for the same have been found for video calling too.
With faster Internet connectivity now available to the masses, more and more people are using video calling in the current times. WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging app and it wouldn’t be bad to include conferencing calls to the app.
